鲍勃·迪伦的现场录音专辑为数众多，但1974年的《Before the Flood》因为他身后的乐队The Band的在场而倍加值得一提。在此之前迪伦刚与The Band一同录制了称霸排行榜的专辑《Planet Waves》，随后他邀请乐队为即将进行的巡回演出担任伴奏，而这次巡演在当时成了有史以来最成功的摇滚巡演。这套双CD专辑便是这场合作的实况录音，演出曲目一概都是较早前的经典，《Planet Waves》的作品则一首未唱。虽然专辑呈现了几首有力的合作歌曲，但讽刺的是，最精彩的几笔却要么是迪伦的自弹自唱，如“Don’t Think Twice”及“It’s Alright Ma”等；要么是乐队撇开迪伦的单独表演，从”The Shape I’m In”中便可见一斑。
